A day trip to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay, CA

Head about 20 minutes south of San Francisco and you’ll run into its quaint coastal towns of Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. These towns are loaded with beautiful coastlines and California charm.

Pedro Point Headlands - Pacifica, CA

We first started our trip at the Pedro Point Headlands Trail. This trail had one amazing view after another. The hike was 2.7 miles and there was a lot of elevation to cover so be sure to bring good trail shoes!

Half Moon Bay

We then headed to Half Moon Bay to Mavericks Beach. This beach is famous for its surf. We found a place to sit on the rocks for a while and just watched the waves pound at the rocks in the jetty.

British Pub on the Cali Coast

We then popped over to Cameron’s Pub, a quirky British pub with a double decker bus outside. They are famous for their karaoke on Saturdays (Danielle Radcliff sang there once) and they also have an attached inn. We sat by the double decker bus and had some Pimm’s Cups and chips on their patio.

Moss Beach Distillery - California coastal cuisine

We finished with dinner on the patio at Moss Beach Distillery. We were lucky enough to time our dinner at sunset and the views of Half Moon Bay were spectacular. They have these great heaters out on their patio which made dining outside in January pleasant. Highly recommend ordering the fried artichokes (they are just better in Cail).

Fun Facts: There are stories of hauntings at the Distillery and its famous ghost, “The Blue Lady”. In 1992 the NBC TV series Unsolved Mysteries recreated a haunting version of “The Legend Of The Blue Lady”. It was super fun to check out this episode after going to the Distillery. Watch it here.
